3 Keys To Mastering An Escape Room

If you are thinking about going to an escape room with your friends or family members, you must understand how to play the game. In an escape room, you'll play games with friends in a controlled environment.

Key #1: The Most Important Key Is Communication

An escape room is not something you can take on by yourself. It is a challenge that is designed to be conquered by a group. An escape room contains multiple clues to help you solve the puzzle of how to escape from the room. The clues are hidden throughout the space and are usually not obvious to one person. Escape rooms are set up so that you must rely on the observation skills and knowledge of multiple people in order to get out of the space.

While in the room, when someone speaks up, everyone needs to listen. If you see something, it is important to speak up and share your observations and thoughts with the group. Escape rooms are about group knowledge.

Key #2: Give Others a Chance

If you have a puzzle that you are trying to solve, and you are stuck, speak up. Ask a teammate to work on the puzzle with you, or give the puzzle to a teammate. Sometimes, when you get stuck, it is better to allow someone else to try the puzzle than it is for you to continue to labor over something that you are getting frustrated with. Keep in mind that each person brings different strengths to the game, which is why it is important to allow others to help you.

Key #3: Examine the Entire Room

Finally, remember to examine the entire room. Do not break the items inside the room, but feel free to move items around. Open all the drawers and cupboards and see if there is anything inside. Move around pictures and small items. Look underneath items. There could be clues and information hidden almost anywhere in the room, so take your time looking for clues that will help your team solve the puzzle.

Most escape rooms hide information throughout the room. If you don't examine everything, there is a good chance that you are going to miss important information that would have helped you solve the puzzle.

An escape room is a life-size puzzle that requires you to work together and communicate with your teammates. Remember to examine the entire room, and get help solving the puzzles.
